Healthy Pina Colada Mocktail: Why From Scratch?
Making a pina colada from scratch is an incredibly healthy and delicious way to enjoy this classic cocktail.
Unlike using syrups or mixes, when you make your own pina colada, you can control exactly what ingredients go into it. This means that you can use fresh fruit juices instead of sugary syrups and artificial flavors, while still achieving the same sweet and refreshing flavor profile as with the pre-made options.
Additionally, by making your own pina coladas you are avoiding any added preservatives or chemicals found in some store bought varieties which could be potentially harmful for your health.
All in all, creating a homemade version of this tropical delight will leave you feeling healthier and more satisfied than ever before!
Pina Colada Mocktail Ingredients
For our virgin Pina Colada Mocktail, we are going to use fresh ingredients. I’m not talking about going out and cracking a coconut from a tree though!
But we are going to skip any premade mixes.
If you would prefer to use a mix, I recommend the virgin Bacardi pina colada mix that comes in the frozen aisle of a grocery store. You just add water and ice. You can add white rum if you want to make it a classic pina colada recipe, but I always stick with this virgin pina colada recipe instead. You can also use a non-alcoholic spirit to achieve this flavor. Ritual zero proof rum is my favorite alcohol free rum – I usually use it for my virgin rum and cokes at summer BBQs.
For our mocktail, we need fresh pineapple chunks (or frozen pineapple chunks for sweeter tastes), fresh pineapple juice (you can skip this if you add more pineapple), coconut cream (also called cream of coconut), a lime/fresh lime juice, and ice.
Pineapple is an excellent source of Vitamin C, which is essential for boosting the immune system. It is also high in dietary fiber, which aids digestion and helps keep you full for longer periods of time.
Pineapple also contains manganese, a mineral that helps protect cells from damage due to oxidative stress.
Additionally, pineapple is packed with antioxidants that help fight off free radicals and reduce inflammation in the body.
Coconut cream is a delicious and creamy ingredient that offers many health benefits. It contains lauric acid, which has been found to help increase HDL cholesterol (the good kind).
Coconut cream is also rich in essential vitamins and minerals, including magnesium, potassium, iron, phosphorus, zinc and vitamin C. These nutrients are important for energy production as well as keeping your heart healthy.
Furthermore, coconut cream contains medium-chain fatty acids which have anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce the risk of certain diseases such as cancer and diabetes.
The best thing is: all these ingredients for this easy recipe are available at your local grocery store! All you need is a good blender or food processor to make this non alcoholic pine colada mocktail that the entire family can enjoy.
By using a mocktail recipe for pina coladas that contains no alcohol and contains these delicious, and beneficial ingredients, you are on the path to health in a real way.
Plus, it tastes delicious!
Garnish Options for a Pina Colada Mocktail
A non-alcoholic pina colada is a delicious and refreshing drink that can be enjoyed by adults and kids alike.
To give your pina colada an extra bit of flavor, there are several garnish options you could choose from.
Maraschino cherries are always a classic choice for adding color to the presentation of the cocktail, while a lime wedge adds an additional citrusy zing. A classic pina colada usually has a maraschino cherry and a pineapple wedge.
Pineapple wedge or slices or strawberry slices also make great additions to this tropical beverage, providing some sweetness as well as giving it visual appeal.
Other options include pineapple leaves, mint leaves, or even some coconut shavings on top!
Pop a cocktail umbrella in your tall glass to make this tropical drink feel truly like you’re on vacation in Hawaii or Puerto Rico.
You can also rim the glass for extra yumminess. Some of my favorite rim options include crushed graham crackers – like on this key lime pina colada mocktail – and hardened chocolate.
You can also rim it with sugar, honey, maple syrup, or even lime popping candy. I’ve seen people use simple syrup as well to hold the sugar – although that’s too sweet for me.
With these garnishes on hand, you’ll be able to create the perfect pina colada every time!
Pina Colada Mocktail Recipe No Blender
Making a delicious pina colada mocktail without a blender is easier than you think! All you need are some simple ingredients and a few minutes of your time.
To make this classic drink, start by combining coconut cream, pineapple juice, freshly squeezed lime juice and ice in a cocktail shaker or jar.
Shake the mixture vigorously for 30 seconds to combine the flavors and chill it down.
Then strain the mixture into a glass filled with more ice cubes and garnish with slices of fresh pineapple. Enjoy your non-alcoholic version of this tropical treat!
You can even have it on ice with crushed ice. This will make it a bit thicker and less like a liquid-y mocktail.
Best Glass to Serve a Pina Colada Mocktail In
When it comes to serving virgin pina coladas, two of the most popular glasses are hurricane glasses and tall 8oz glasses.
Hurricane glasses are great for adding a beachy vibe to any party with their distinctive shape, while tall 8oz glasses give your drink an elegant look.
Both types of glassware will make sure that your guests can enjoy their drinks without spilling them all over the place.
Plus, they’ll be able to admire the beautiful colors of this refreshing cocktail as it swirls around in these stylish vessels! (And they’re easy to rim!)
