Best Non Alcoholic Eggnog Recipe (6 Ingredients)

This recipe is my family’s go-to every year. It started long before I was born, but we’ve kept the tradition alive so the kids could get in on the eggnog fun. Now that I’m sober, this is the eggnog I go back to, too.

My family go nuts for this eggnog. We usually go through 3 pitchers before Christmas dinner!

My sister even makes it in the summer on cold nights at the cottage.

I can’t wait to share it with you so you can enjoy it this winter, too!

What You’ll Love About This Non Alcoholic Eggnog

  • Easy to Make: This recipe only requires 6 ingredients – most of which you probably have in your house already! And all you need to know how to do is stir to be able to make this perfect winter mocktail.
  • Easy to Find Ingredients: Unlike some recipes that require specialty sourced items or pre-ordering virgin spirits months in advance, you can find all the ingredients for this at Walmart or your local grocery store.
  • Cost Effective: Save money for presents this year! Don’t spend an arm and a leg on ingredients.
  • Family Friendly: The whole family will love these. It’s a great drink for all ages. Kids love it for the ice cream. Adults love the smoky cloves. And it can even be made with alcohol for those who prefer that.
  • Comforting: This drink is comfort in a cup. It’s creamy and has a lovely hint of cinnamon. But it doesn’t make you feel like you just drank a pint of cream. It’s got a refreshing after taste that will ensure you still have room for all the sweets on Christmas.

Ingredient Notes

This recipe is super simple to make. All you’ll need are:

  • 1 pint of Haagen Dazs vanilla ice cream (or another brand) that’s melted.
  • Ginger ale
  • Orange juice
  • Cloves, Cinnamon, and Nutmeg

You can replace the ice cream with any other brand, but most come in larger sizes so then you need to double the other ingredients.

I recommend Canada Dry Ginger Ale – it’s the best!

You want pulp free OJ.

You can replace the cloves and nutmeg with Allspice if you have it around instead.

Then top with a straw – I love the thick milkshake ones – and you’re ready to go!

No boiling, not chilling for days, not complex ingredients, no separating eggs. Just two steps and you’re ready to enjoy this holiday classic.

Storing the Eggnog

My sister makes this eggnog weekly throughout the winter, but she doesn’t down it all in one sitting.

You can store it by putting it in a covered pitcher in the fridge. It might start to separate if it’s very cold or sitting too long, so just give it a quick stir before you next serve it.

Eggnog in a glass with a bit of foam on top and a candy cane striped straw that's red and green. In the background you can see a Christmas tree and presents in gold.

Ingredients

  • 1 pint Haagen Dazs Vanilla Ice Cream Melted. Other vanilla ice cream works, too
  • 4 cans Ginger Ale
  • 1/3 cup Orange Juice
  • 1/4 tsp Nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Cloves
  • Straw

Instructions

  • Melt the ice cream either in the carton or in a pitcher. Pour in the orange juice and mix to combine. Season with the spices and stir.
  • To serve, pour about halfway into a glass then top with ginger ale. Be careful as it fizzes a lot so don't overpour. The best ratio is 1:1. Dust with a bit of cinnamon on the top foam and serve with a straw.

Notes

My dad adds rum to it to make it more traditional instead of the gingerale.
